My first outdoor rock climb - helt rå! We followed the path from the cemetery, straight up and a little to the left of the goat. A few big and wet rocks, quite a messy path as it’s had been raining quite heavily the previous few days. A little bit of scrambling in a few places but soon enough we were at the top. There was 6 other Norwegians, all planning to climb the 1910 route. We took the direct route - nice climbing and I found enough good hand and feet grips, but we had to use a rope ladder to get up the first 2/3 meters. A beautiful view from the top, though it started sleeting as soon as I got to the top so we came down quite quickly. Definitely won’t be my last climbing trip, Takk for turen uglefisk (Paal Andre Lund) !

Sacred Valley Via Ferrata

Via ferrata

After trying the Vest Veggen Via Ferrata in Åndalsnes earlier this year, we were excited to give the Via Ferrata in the Sacred Valley a go while we were acclimatizing at altitude before our Salkantay treck to Machu Pichu. Quite an easy Via Ferrata. Would have been nice to do this alone, the pace went really slowly as we were in a large group and this was quite frustrating. The Zip Lining on the way down was really fun. Definitely not a bad way to spend the day as a day trip from Cusco, but the via ferrata in itself could have been more challenging.

Via ferrata

This was my first climb of any sort, and my first Via Ferrata, so I was pretty nervous! We rented our gear from the Åndalsnes visitor center, it was a beautiful day and the beauty of this place helped calm the nerves, or at least give me something else to look at. We geared up and started climbing after a small hike up a marked trail. I think the first section was definitely one of the hardest, there wasn't enough metal hand or foot grips so I freaked out a bit the first time I had to rest my toe on a tiny piece of rock. After a tantrum and quite a few tears, uglefisk (Paal Andre Lund) climbed back down to push me upwards and it was pretty smooth sailing from there. I have done a couple of Via Ferrata's since and I think this one was definitely one of the most challenging, but I heard they were looking to put a few >>>
