Trip Summary
After a two days meeting at Voss, we wished to get some fresh air before darkness would set in. The weather forecast was "challenging" (loads of rain predicted), but shifted at least a little from day to day. We had not given up, but aimed at something non-extreme to account for the circumstances (limited daylight left, non-shiny weather, etc.). My dear hiking friend Harald wished to ascend Lauvhovden (and convinced me then, also). We took the car from Voss along Raundalsvegen to Klyve, where we parked near Svinåni next to a gravel road. To start our hike, we first followed Raundalsvegen a little further, passing between Øvre Klyve and Nedre Klyve, to connect to a forest road that we had seen right next to Rastalii (leading upwards into the direction of Skori and Klyvsnolten). Following this forest road, which apparently hasn't been used so much for a longer time, already (indicated by non-small trees growing in the middle of the "road"), we quickly made some height meters. When getting above 350mosl, the road turned into a trail (or, maybe, a deer track), which we then followed further upwards (into the direction of Skori, taking care that we would get sufficiently far east to not miss the lower entry to Skori). Hiking up through the forest was nice and straight-forward and soon we entered Skori on its southwestern, lower end. Stepping up the narrow gully was then pleasantly straight-forward, also (while lots of big rocks cover the ground, one can ascend on either the left or right side of this gully without major difficulties). At about 650mosl, the terrain flattens out a little and one gets a suitable opportunity to step out of the valley towards the north (where also Klyvsnolten is). Ascending first a little side-top right north to Skori, we then followed the ridge towards Klyvsnolten in northeastern direction. On a nice day, one should expect really nice views from Klyvsnolten, both towards Voss in the west and Raunsdalen in the east! At Klyvsnolten, we then also met the trail, which leads up to this top from the north. Following this trail for a little stretch, we made it to Skaret (between Klyvsnolten in the southwest and the ridge towards Lauvhovden in the northeast). It was then nice and easy to walk over this ridge (even though we could not identify any trail there) and ascend Lauvhovden further in the north. At Lauvhovden, we then tried to catch at least some views, before starting our way back. To get back, we had planned to find a trail that would bring us to Singeset in the west of Lauvhovden, first. With a bit of guessing, we managed to find this trail "just so", including a short detour around the little lake in the southwest of Lauvhovden, and descended to Singeset without issues (the snow and water "everywhere" required a bit of concentraion to avoid slipping of some stones or roots). From Singeset, we followed a forest road for a short stretch (into Raudkjelda), before we then chose to descend along Gamle Raundalsvegen. Gamle Raundalsvegen is a really nice trail, leading down in parallel to a nice stream, and we quickly made it down to a place called Svartaberget. There, we decided to connect to the other side of the stream and another forest road (serving Øvrestølen). To get over there, however, we engaged with a short (and wet!) "bush war", "fighting" through some dense vegetation there for about 100 meters. After that "bonus bit", we then descended along the forest road to the car without any further challenges. All in all, this hike was really nice and we eventually were quite a bit luckier with the weather than expected! :-)
