I took the day off to enjoy what seemed like the last day of nice weather for a while. Started by taking the boat from Bergen to Rosendal. Upon arriving, I first walked south along the road to Seimshagen (separate cycling and walking paths all the way), before easily locating the marked trailhead for Kvitegga (Kviteggjo on the signs) towards the end of Seimshamrane. There were several signs at the start to show the way up to Seimsakla where there was a nice viewpoint with views back towards Rosendal. Until this point, the trail had been relatively steep but never exposed or turning into scrambling. At Seimsakla the terrain tuned less steep and soon I also left most of the trees behind, with the bonus of even better views. The final ascent to Kvitegga was straightforward and did not present any challenges >>>

Cycling: Siglingabu

The second trip to Askøy in less than a week. I had planned to take the boat from Strandkaien to Kleppestø, but when discovering that there was no boat on Sundays, I changed to plan B and instead first cycled to the city center and then brought the bike with me on the bus. I got off at the first stop after Askøybroen, started the GPS-tracking, and began the long ride north to Siglingavatnet for a visit of the recently opened Siglingabu . To avoid the worst traffic, I followed the roads on the east side of the island. This resulted in a very nice bike trip. The only exception being the final stretch along Åsebøvegen to the large parking lot for Siglingavatnet friluftspark . Here the traffic was more intense. Knultrane

A return to Bønestoppen for a visit of Knultrane , a recent addition to the Alle topper i Bergen list . The short hike turned out to be a positive surprise with a nice trail across the ridge and good views from near the highest point. Continuing to Gullsteinen and Løvstakken was abandoned due to it started raining.

Kollevågen and Vardneshaugane

Short detour to Vardneshaugane while attending a rather wet barbeque at Kollevågen, although thankfully under a large protective roof. Managed to convince two of my colleagues to join the hike, although they turned back before the highest point due to the rather wet and muddy trail.

Kyrelvfjellet

After our successful ascent of Nipahøgdi , we drove the short distance south towards Langavatnet for an attempt at ascending Kyrelvfjellet . Thankfully, this part of the road had been cleared of snow and we could therefore easily drive all the way to our planned starting point east of the summit. Here Endre decided to have a go at the last skiing trip of the season, while Petter and I concluded that it would be just as easy to continue on foot for this peak as well. Initially, we followed a route marked with small cairns leading us to the small 1168 lake east of the summit. The cairns can most likely be followed all the way to the summit, at least they reappeared higher up, but for now they were hidden underneath the snow. Petter picked me up at my place shortly after six, having already picked up Endre , and together we made the long drive to Austdalen. Our goal was to drive as high up as possible and then see how many of the peaks that each of us had left we could manage to ascend. At around 970 meters above sea level, just before the last bend in the road below Austdalsnutvatnet, we came across the first patch of snow blocking our way. We left the car behind and continued on foot along the road. We had brought skis but decided to leave them in the car. There were still extended stretches of road without any snow but it quickly became clear that we could not have driven much further anyway, as the road was soon largely hidden underneath the snow.
