An action-packed three-days weekend with Sigurd, Herve, Brede, HK and Dan. The last ski trip of the great 2020 ski season.

We drove from Trondheim on Friday afternoon in two cars, we stopped for dinner in Dombås and decided that if we wanted to ski Juratind we should do it right when we arrive at Romsdal at midnight. So after 6 hours drive, we prepared to start skinning up Juratind. After 1 hour of waiting for Sigurd to find his car keys we were ready and Dan, Herve, Brede, Sigurd, and me started skinning up. The conditions weren't great and midway up Sigurd decided to turn around. We continued and at around 5 a.m. we were at the South ridge. I had already been in Juratind before one year ago, so I knew best way up: traverse to the west ridge and do an easy pitch to the summit. Due to the snow conditions, it was a bit hard to traverse and Dan decided to scramble directly to the top, we decided to continue towards the west ridge. There, I lead the pitch to the top, meeting Dan just below the summit before the crux. I made it to the top and Dan clipped himself to the rope to get through that last bit. I belayed Herve and Brede until we were all in the top. We rappelled down and skied down some mediocre snow to meet Sigurd at around 10 am.

The weather was now quite amazing and I had no intention to get any sleep. Herve, Sigurd and me decided to continue enjoy the snow while the others got some sleep. We drove a bit North and did Smørbottind and Skarven (only with Sigurd the last one). There were a lot of people and crazy good weather. I took a half an hour nap in the top of Smørbottind. The descents were top quality this time, in well cooked spring snow.

We returned to our campsite. I took a bath in the river, had dinner, and collapsed in my tent. Next day we split in two teams: HK, Brede and Dan would go climbing, while Sigurd, Herve and myself, went skiing (we would never give up a day of skiing for climbing). The goal was Skjervan. We drove a dirt road in the east side of the mountain that took us to around 300 moh. We skinned up through the forest, and after some discussion about route choice, we decided to go towards the North ridge. Some sections here were a bit sketchy, but we made it to the ridge without problems. For the ridge, we changed to crampons and scrambled our way to the top. The way down was, again, amazing. So much that we did it twice.

After this, Sigurd wanted to meet a friend, so Herve and I didn't have a car to go skiing. Instead, we took the opportunity to go for a run around Åndalsnes going up and down the famous Romsdaleggen a couple of times. After some hours we met Sigurd again and were ready to head back to our camping site. As the day before: bath, food, and collapse in the tent.

On Monday we wanted to do something short before heading back to Trondheim. The skiing team (Sigurd, Herve and me) went this time for Nonstinden. While driving through the valley we paid attention to the lakes for the after-trip bath. On our way up we took the wrong side of the river, which meant that we had to cross it at some point. With quite some current, that was not so easy. I tried to find a place where it becomes narrow (bad idea), I took off my boots, threw my skis to the other side of the river and went for it. The water was almost hip high with considerable current and I was very close of losing my balance and take a very fun fall... Sigurd was more clever than me and he just went through the widest part of the river, boots on. The rest of the trip went without incidents. On the way down we didn't cross the river and we made it back to the car to conclude the last ski trip of the season.
