A beautiful day in Tromsø so we decided to head up Blåtinden. The years first trip with sikkelig påskestemning. We parked by the side of the small bridge and walked along the road before taking the trail up to the left of the green house, keeping on the right hand side of the river. We dug in the snow for a stability test while we had our first kvikklunsj and it looked nice and stable. Kjempefin nedkjøring and Eva took a nice line in the steep side of the bowl on the way down. Ended up skiing too far down to the left and had to walk about 1km back to the car on the right.

There was already quite a few cars when we arrived a little after 10, so all there was to do was park and follow the tracks up. Great fresh snow and blue skies made for a great day out. After just under 2 hours we reached the top, had a quick lunch and changed for the trip down. Awesome fresh powder. Takk for turen Eva!

Today I learnt a big lesson. If you buy new ski boots, make sure they fit your bindings first.... We parked by the Berg church and followed the signposted path up. Loads of people had been walking there so it was just plankekjøring until we got past the tree line. The snow in the trees was soft and fluffy but got gradually more wind blown as we got out of the tree line. With the summit in sight, we followed to the left of the ridge all the way up. It was really windy today so there wasn’t much time to enjoy the stunning view unfortunately. My face felt frozen and I wanted to keep moving, so after taking my skins off I went to clip my heel into my bindings.......aaaaaaand they were way too far apart for my boots :( we didn’t have any tools with us, so uglefisk (Paal Andre Lund) tried to use the car key as a screwdriver. >>>

Gråtinden

Date:
31.01.2019

uglefisk (Paal Andre Lund) turned 36 today, so we had to celebrate with a trip. Lots of wind in Tromsø the last week meant I was hesitant to take a challenging trip, so we decided on Gråtind. We parked opposite Store Bentfjordstinden and followed some tracks up through the trees (thankfully not so tight). We gained elevation gradually until we had the final ridge in sight. I decided to leave my shoes and walk the final section on foot. It was super icy so I used crampons in the way down. It was a beautiful day and there was almost no wind so we got really lucky. Nice skiing down to the car, lots of room for nice big turns which I love, thankfully because the snow was really wind blown and it was hard navigating all the snow “waves”.

Australia day at Fagerfjellet

Date:
26.01.2019

With heavy winds forecast on the coast, we decided to head inland. My second ever ski trip had been to fagerfjellet last year but we got clouded in at the top, so I was looking forward to seeing the view. I was not looking forward to navigating the forrest on the way down. The last trip we had driven around 1km after ramsfjordskole and parked on the road, but this time we parked at ramsfjordskole and chose a different path up. The trees were tighter which made me pretty nervous about going down. The powder was great in the trees but as soon as we got above the treeline it had turned to cement with a really thick crust. One of the girls i was with had lost 2 screws for her splitboard, so we decided to turn a few hundred meters after the treeline. Challenging skiing on the way down for me, crashed >>>
