Bjørndalen

We started from Varden and went down to Bjørgeveien, which we followed until the point, where we could leave the road towards Kjerreidvika (on the left, western side). Down at the sea, it is possible to find a narrow path on the northern side, which surrounds Ørnahaugen, passing by Djupakastet, leading to Hestabakken. There, we ascended upwards---in eastern direction---until we came close to the buildings up there. Before actually reaching the houses at Bjørndalsskogen, we turned left and crossed a small height, before stepping down into the "main square" of Bjørndalsskogen. We crossed over to the other, northern side, where we left the street, again, ascending to the hill north of Bjørndalsssskogen. We drove to Osterøy and then on Osterøy first to Lonevåg. From there, we continued to Hosanger at Osterfjorden, on the northwestern side of Osterøy. In Hosanger, we took a sharp turn to the right, where a sign leads to the Waldorf school in Holanger. Before getting to the school, we parked right next to the graveyard. From there we walked along a simple road, first on the western side of the little stream that comes down from Holevatnet, that leads directly into Kossdalen. In Kossdalen, the path switches sides and continues further in on the eastern side of the valley, passing by Kossdalsvatnet. New Løvstien (again)

We parked along the road Klauvsteinen and walked from there---first along Klauvsteinen, before then takinng a pedestrians path up to Øvre Riplegården. After walking over the saddle (on Øvre Riplegården), we continued to the newest section of Løvstien. We then followed Løvstien down and towards Bergen, turning around the mountain along with the path. Before Løvstien gets all the way down, connecting to Løvstakkveien, some new paths lead up to a vantage spot called Skillingsbollen. The way back from there followed then basically the same as for getting there.

We parked along the road Klauvsteinen and walked from there (first along Klauvsteinen, before then takinng a pedestrians path up to Øvre Riplegården). After walking over the saddle (on Øvre Riplegården), we found the entry point to the newest section of Løvstien. We then followed Løvstien down and towards Bergen, turning around the mountain along with the path. A lot of efforts have been put into making this path a nice one, really! :-) At a vantage point (above St. Markus kirke), we then turned around and walked back. Given the very wet weather, this was at least a short walk to get some fresh air. :-) The city of Bergen writes about the opening .

From Varden, we walked over the bridge over Bjørgeveien and then up to Knappen. Back, we descended on the east and north of Knappatjørna, before returning to Varden. Petter Bjørstad has a useful page about Knappen .

Starting from a place near Øydvenstod, I first followed Osavegen up to the saddle towards Ulvik. There, I turned left, westwards, and ascended the few meters up to Håheim. From there, I followed the marked path -- in southwestern direction -- in order to get up to Åsen. It's not so clear, where the top actually is -- Åsen is well-covered with a forest and there are a number of ups and downs. I found my way to the antenna that is also seen from Ulvik and from there, via a simple path, down to Vattatveit. From there, I first followed the forest road, but when it turned left -- in eastwards directions -- I left it (to the right) and crossed Trånemyrhaugen (basically without any path). Tennebekksnipa

Starting from Lyngbø, we first walked up the street through Lyngbødalen, up to the dam of Skitnetjørna. From there, we followed the ridge, before we crossed over and ascended to Tennebekksnipa from north. We enjoyed nice views of Lyderhorn and Tennebekktjørna. We descended to Tennebekktjørna, before we returned, following the path through Trongedalane. Before going down, again, on this path, we turned right and up the ridge, again, from which we descended to see Skitnetjørna (which we followed on its western side, back to the dam). Skjenestølen

Starting from the last bus stop on Drønen, we walked along the island until we reached Skjenestølen, the highest spot on Drønen -- a short walk, but nice to get out and have some fresh air! :-)

Starting from Varden, we first followed Bjørgeveien for a short distance, then turned left into Kjerreidvika. At the seaside, right opposite to Håkonsvern with all its military ships, we started to follow the shoreline -- first on a path, then directly on the short. At the bottom of Hestabakken, we too a look at a (really) small lighthouse. The area is interesting -- one gets the impression that earlier (during WWII?) some major construction work was done here. After a bit more along the shore, we followed a steep, but easy to climb, ridge up into the direction of Kampen. Eventually, however, we ascended to Straumefjellet, instead, and then returned from there via Bjørndalsskogen. Grøntua

Starting from Brønndalen, we quickly ascended to Grøntua -- a small top west of Lyderhorn with a nice view! :-) From there, via Olskvikåsen, a school, and Olsvik (another school), we first descended to Olsvikstallen, from where we ascended to Festeråsen, where still ruins from WWII are visible. From there we went back, once again passing over Grøntua. All in all, a very relaxed Sunday afternoon walk (in great spring weather). Petter Bjørstad has a useful page about Grøntua .
