Hiking Experience in Ethiopia – (Simien Mountains & Danakil)

© Christina Mynt Perhaps one of the biggest surprises among the countries I have had to visit is Ethiopia. When you hear the word “Ethiopia”, you usually don't expect anything special. Perhaps only one more African country, with savannas and poor villages. However, after the trip, you understand how wrong this stereotype is. Ethiopia is a very bright country with wonderful nature, incredible and picturesque mountains, wild and endemic flora and fauna, interesting and original culture, as well as interesting people and customs. In the 16 days we spent in Ethiopia, it seemed like we were all over the world, from volcanic eruptions to endless lakes and ancient churches. The trip involved a significant altitude range, from 120 meters below sea level in the Danakil Depression to the highest peak in Ethiopia.
