Woke up to an overcast and foggy sky after sleeping very comfortably in the Svolvær youth hostel for one night (camping in Kalle had proved to be less fun than I had expected). The rest of the gang had more or less decided to try a round trip from Kongstindan, Lova and the peaks west of Lova. I was undecided about whether to join them or keep Ilona company while she continued hobbling around on trips around town.

In the end Ilona and I tried to catch a ferry to Skrova but found out that it would mean having to wait for about 3 hours at the ferry quay. So instead of doing that, I parted ways with Ilona and decided to go for an afternoon walk to Kongstindan. In truth I would have much rather headed out toards Vestgavøya and gone on a long trip, but since we had arranged with the guys to meet for dinner at 8pm I didn't think I would have enough time to squeeze in the kind of trip I most wanted to do. So I resorted to the short-trip option yet again.

The footpath started from the north-eastern edge of Litl Kongsvatnet which was only a few minutes drive out of Svolvær centre. Quite conveniently there was plenty of space to park up the car beside what looked like some sort of power plant and from there I only had to walk some small way along the road to the path. Like the trip to Rundfjellet, I was very pleased to find that the path was easy to follow, and it was a swift passage through the trees before I was above the forest and could start seeing some of Svolvær.

It was quite a straightforward route which went up the eastern ridge of the hill, with some places where a little scrambling was needed. The views over Svolvær were pretty good, and after gaining some hundred metres in height it was also possible to see all the way across Stor-Kongsvatnet and Ørsvågen towards Vågakallen. The top was deceptively further away than it appeared, but it was quite a nice ridge to walk on so I would have enjoyed the ridge experience for as long as possible anyway.

I arrived on the top at around 3.30pm, took some pictures and ate a few apples before going back down again. It had been satisfying to have been on a walk, and the trip had been quite OK but I came back down still feeling a bit annoyed with myself for not having gone somewhere I really wanted and instead worrying about meeting up with the others on time.
