Mysterfjell and Åsen
I started by taking the train to Dale and from there the bus to Eidslandet where I got off at Olavika at the start of Mystervegen. After passing the last house in Mystervegen I passed through a gate, and later on a second gate, and continued on a tractor road that soon turned into a marked trail that lead me up to Leiro. Here I had hoped to locate a trail towards Storfjellet but only found weak animal tracks and before long I was simply aiming for Storfjellet and heading off-trail in that direction. Thankfully the terrain was easy to navigate and I arrived at the summit without any issues. Excellent views back down towards Myster and Eidslandet from just west of the highest point.
Due to lots of flies I however did not stay long before turning my attention to the real goal of the day: Mysterfjell. Not sure where the name comes from though, as unlike most of the other hills in the area the 759 hill in question was unnamed on the map. But to keep it simple, I will still refer to it as Mysterfjell. Getting from Storfjellet to Mysterfjell required a bit of careful navigation, but if done correctly should not present any real challenges. There was even a trail/deer track to follow for part of the ascent, although it disappeared as I got closer to the summit.
The views from Mysterfjell were a bit limited due to the low-hanging clouds, but I could still identify both Slettefjellet and Hornafjellet on the other side of the valley. If moving south from the summit, Eidsfjorden could also be spotted in the distance. After a short lunch break I descended along a similar route back down to Leiro, although skipping the revisit of Storfjellet. I also attempted a failed shortcut at the start but it would have been better to follow the ascent route.
Upon returning to Leiro I considered taking an alternative route via Mysterstølen but in the end simply followed the same route back to the tractor road at Myster. Here I however modified my route and instead followed Nordheimsvegen towards the river. (Note that if coming by car there is a small parking lot at the eastern end of this road where you can pay by Vipps. 30 kr per day.)
Even though I had tried to take it slow, I still had plenty of time before the bus to Dale. When coming across a sign for Åsen, I therefore decided to give it a go and followed a marked trail all the way to the summit. Rather limited views though and I do not expect this small hill gets many visitors. When the trail, albeit not the markers, continued south from the summit, I did the same. The trail however quickly disappeared and had to find my own way down to the road to the east. This was not too difficult, but with a bus to catch, and steep areas to avoid, it would probably have been faster to simply return the same way. I still made it to the bus stop with around ten minutes to spare.
In summary, I enjoyed this hike much more than expected, and even though a visit of Mysterfjell requires its fair share of off-trail hiking it is well worth it. A detour to Storfjellet can also be recommended given the excellent views. Finally, if you want a shorter hike along nice trails, a visit of Leiro can be recommended on its own.

Very inspiring...
Skrevet av HHauser 02.06.2024 22:28... trip report -- thanks for sharing! Reads like a nice hike! One fun question could be: How many members does the welcome committee has? :-)

As for the welcoming committee, I was not so focused on the numbers, but more on how to get through the gate without any of them escaping the other way. And also, due to their keen interest in me, being very happy that the committee was made up of sheep and not cows. ;)
