Hiked up from Lupine Meadows Trailhead passed Surprise Lake, and continued beyond Amphitheatre Lake on the ridge north of Amphitheatre Lake until I reached a point where one would have to start to climb (perhaps around 3050 m?).
Fantastic day — must come back!
