Having been to Segla last year, I was keen to try the traverse over from Barden. Lani was luckily up for anything and we had incredible warm weather :) We started on the same trail as segla and followed the planks over the swampland to Barden. Saved us some soggy shoes. We gained elevation steadily and soon were on top of Barden with breathtaking views in all directions. Finding the trail down from the top and over to Segla was a little bit challenging, so we ended up walking down over some messy and uneven terrain until I found a way into the path on the ridge. I think I walked too far to the right coming down from the summit and should have stayed closer to the water.

From here it was just to enjoy the stunning views and to watch the sun getting lower and lower in the sky as we headed towards Segla. There was a lot of photo breaks and we stopped for a snack before we started up the last hill before Segla. We came to the top of Segla around 10.30pm and enjoyed watching the sun for half an hour before we started heading down. The sandy path is always a little problematic and Lani was understandably getting a bit tired in her legs. Luckily the elevation loss is effective and soon we were back in the car. Definitely had the toughest newbie ever with me on this hike :)
