Trip Summary
We took the car to Tyssøy (via Mathopen, then through the tunnel under Vatlestraumen, and then across Bjorøyna) and parked at Støene, where also the bus turns around. Our plan was to walk around the island and thus we left the "main road" already in the first turn (towards the southeast). We came by quite a number of goats before visiting Storeklubben first. From there, we first went a few steps back in order to reconnect with the main trail that leads southwards along the shore of Tyssøy (but a bit higher up in the terrain). We followed the well-marked path southwards until we came near to Slettevikklubben. There, instead of further following the trail, which leads "back" towards the central trail across the island, we improvised towards Børvika. This wasn't really difficult, but clearly without any path and through some vegetation there. From Børvika onward, it was nice and easy again (along the coast). We followed the shore until we came to Austraneset at the southeastern end of Smivågen. In order to continue "along the shore", we then needed to surround Smivågen (nice and easy). Smivågen indeed is a very nice place and "as usually" we met quite a number of visitors there (many kids, also). We then came back "out" to the coast, again, at Vestraneset. From there, we followed a nice path that leads northwards along the coast (first via Gurifluberget). At Skjervika we spent a few minutes (also a really nice place at Tyssøy!), before then continuing further northwards along the shore. Eventually, we ended up in Tyssøyvågen, where we connected back to the road (and from there within a few more minutes back to the parking spot on the eastern side of the island). All in all, Tyssøy is always a nice place to visit, even in substantially windy conditions! :-)
