A wonderful trip on a well deserved day off. The hike from Skulsfjord to Kvaløyvågen has long been on my list of hikes i wanted to do. Finally, with a day off and no business that i had to do I was able to drop the family off at work/daycare and take off to the hills. The trip over started nicely as I passed by a herd of cows lazily laying in the semi sun. Afterwards another herd of cows blocked my path. After reasoning with them for maybe 10 minutes I was allowed to pass. The rest of the hike to Kvaløyvågen was pretty easy, considering, but the path became pretty muddy during the middle half. Towards the end it was a nice walk down to the fjord. Looking at how much time I had left i i decided to make my own trail and head for the nearest highest point I saw. After walking/scrambling for a while I made it to the top of Eidtuva. Again seeing that I had a decent amount of time left. I head towards the next highest mountain I saw. After wandering downwords to a wet water filled area, I again started up towards Middagsfjellet. Pushing myself so that I would have enough time to get up there and back before having to pick up the family, I made good time up the pretty easy (except for the large amounts of boggy areas at the bottom) climb up the the top. I took a little walk past the top to look around. Saw a huge free standing stone, and made my way past a little lake and to a lonely tree before starting my trip back down. On the way down I stopped at a fantastic little shelter by the water, saw two large swans, ate a bit of a snack and high tailed it back to the car. All in all a perfect way to spend a day off from work.
