Turtyp:

Tidsåtgång:
2:30t
Avstånd:

We were up for a visit of Bad Ischl and parked south of the Traun near Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Brücke. After then walking up Esplanade alongside of the Traun, first, we then walked over to the Kurpark in the center of Bad Ischl. Via Kreuzplatz and Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Straße we then returned to Esplanade for a second time. Eventuallz, we crossed the Traun (via Richard Tauber Steg) again to return to the car. Nice evening walk in Salzburg

Datum:
04.08.2026
Turtyp:
Promenad
Tidsåtgång:
4:00t
Avstånd:
2,6km

In the evening, we drove to Salzburg and parked in the parking space underneath Mönchsberg. We then walked via Universitätsplatz to Alter Markt, where we enjoyed a nice break. Thereafter, we crossed over the Salzach to have some nice icecream at Platzl, before continuing towards Schloss Mirabell. Through the nice park right next to it, we then returned. While crossing over the Salzach again, we enjoyed some nice late-evening light on Salzburg! :-) Selected photos are available as Google photo album . Once around Eibenberg, Nixenfall

Datum:
04.08.2026
Turtyp:
Fotvandring
Tidsåtgång:
2:30t
Avstånd:
9,5km

We headed for the Weissenbachtal in the south of the Höllengebirge for a hike around Eibenberg. After parking a short stretch southeast of Weissenbach along the Weissenbacher Straße, we first needed to get across the Weissenbach in order to connect with the trail, which we had in mind. Given the extremely dry conditions, which had prevailed for a longer time already, we could simply walked across the bed of Weissenbach, not even seeing any water! We then followed a marked trail in eastern direction that extends there between Weissenbach in the north and Eibenberg in the south. At the location, where the Klausenbach joins Weissenbach from the south, we then made our turn to start the hike back (this time south of Eibenberg, crossing over the Eibenbergsattel just a bit to the southwest >>>

Once around the Taferlklaussee

Datum:
03.08.2026
Turtyp:
Promenad
Tidsåtgång:
1:00t
Avstånd:
1,3km

We simply wished to walk a little and chose the Taferlklause close to Steinbach/Attersee as our goal. There we then walked around Taferlklaussee. Even though this indeed was a very short round, we still enjoyed it! :-) Selected photos are available as Google photo album . See also the related FB-page Hiking around Bergen, Norway .

Höllengebirge from Attersee

Datum:
02.08.2026
Turtyp:
Fotvandring
Tidsåtgång:
6:00t
Avstånd:
13,7km

The idea was to use a good weather forecast for a nice hike up and down Höllengebirge. We started from Dorf (part of Steinbach/Attersee) and first walked to Forstamt, where we started the ascent "for real". While this meant to first walk up a forest road, east of Forstamt, we soon changed over to the trail, which later becomes the Brennerriesensteig (after forking off from Valerieweg at about 720masl). The next 2km (up the Brennerriesensteig) then were steep up some 800 height meters (climbing is not really needed, but there's a ladder and some steps which are secured by ropes along the trail). Since this trail leads up the westward facing "wall" of Höllengebirge, one gets to enjoy numerous amazing views across Attersee (also over to Schafberg). Once on the heights >>>

Biking to/from Solstrand

Datum:
27.07.2026
Turtyp:
Cykeltur
Tidsåtgång:
6:00t
Avstånd:
82,7km

We decided that, after all the years, it was time for one nice night at Solstrand! :-) To make this a somewhat rounded experience, we decided to bike there (and back). On our way there, we biked via Fana and Fanafjellet, then continuing along Lyseklostervegen to Ulven and Osøyro. After enjoying some nice hours at Solstrand (with extensive bathing, both inside and outside), we then biked back; this time via Hausdalen, then up to Bontveit, and from there further to Totland, before surrounding Nordåsvatnet to get back home. Given the partially rainy wheather, this trip was just perfect as a mini-vacation in our summer vacation! :-) Selected photos are available as Google photo album . Storanosi from Ljosno

Datum:
23.07.2026
Turtyp:
Fotvandring
Tidsåtgång:
4:30t
Avstånd:
15,1km

The idea was to make a simple hike, just up via Haugslii in the southwest of Brandset to Eggjane and then some round from there. The first task was to find a rounte, which would not bring to much wild interaction with all the vegetation at Haugslii, but with a little luck, maybe, I found some open stretches which offered a nice and pleasant ascent for most of the slope! Once coming close to the tree line at about 850masl, I had to look a little regarding where to "break through" to the heights above, but managed without difficulties. Once above the tree line, however, it became straight-forward and easy to proceed further upwards (to the "top" of Eggjane). From there, I then walked over to Storanosi, enjoying quite a few nice views (both towards the north, across Oppheimsvatnet, >>>

Brekkenipa from Brekkedalen

Datum:
22.07.2026
Turtyp:
Fotvandring
Tidsåtgång:
6:30t
Avstånd:
9,2km

As hike number four in this hiking week, we decided to make an attempt up Brekkenipa in the northwest of Stalheim. On the map of Kartverket, we found traces of a trail that would lead up to Brekkenipa from Brekkedalen, north of Stalheim, starting close to the bridge over the stream through Brekkedalen. Very soon, however, it became clear that no such trail is to be found there. Instead, we just made it up the (steep) mountain side without a trail (first into the direction of Fagerbotn). Given the plentitude of small trees, choosing proper sections for gaining height was important (luckily, water and snow seem to plow long, vertical sections of this young forest free every now and then). Even without a trail, we still made it up to Fagerbotn without real difficulties (it's just steep). >>>

Midtfjellet from Sjauseter

Datum:
21.07.2026
Turtyp:
Fotvandring
Tidsåtgång:
5:00t
Avstånd:
12,4km

As a third hike in this hiking week, we decided to try out Midtfjellet (from the northeast). Starting from Ulvik, we just drove up to Sjausete, paying a small road fee. From there, we followed a nicely-marked trail to Hellesete and from there further up towards Midtfjellet. Especially in the higher parts of this hike, the landscape is really nice (and also impressive). Right underneath Javanuten, we briefly lost the (in general very well marked) trail, but reconnecting with the trail a bit further up turned out to be straight-forward and without difficulties. Within not too long, we then also arrived at the top, where we were met with truly impressive sights. In the south, Midtfjellet breaks off some 300 vertical meters forming an impressive cliff. Clouds came up this cliff, pressed >>>

Skorafjellet from Solsævatnet

Datum:
20.07.2026
Turtyp:
Fotvandring
Tidsåtgång:
8:00t
Avstånd:
13,8km

As a second hike in this hiking week, we decided to explore Skorafjellet, north of Ulvik. We drove up Espelandsvegen from Ulvik until we found Solsævegen on our right. Following this gravel road, we made it almost to Solsævatnet (about 1km from it), where we parked right next to the road block. By foot, we then made it quickly up to Solsævatnet. From there, we then followed a well-marked trail along the northern shore of Solsævatnet. This trail then transitions into a trail which leads up to Rubbelii from where we found the connection to Nedre Skor (this connection is no longer marked, but quite easy to find, nonetheless). From Nedre Skor, the first really steep section starts (up to Øvre Skor); the trail is on the eastern side of Skorelvi. Due to the steep terrain, one can enjoy >>>
