The main objective of the day was to visit Kleppavarden at Tysnes, and the trailhead was to be reached by bike. When I started cycling from Lønborg, low-hanging clouds were covering half of Askøy, and the clouds had still not started lifting when I arrived at Halhjem, where I was too early and had to wait more than 40 minutes for the ferry. When getting off the ferry at Våge, the clouds finally disappeared as I followed the main road to Søreidsvågen, from where I continued on the smaller Neshamnvegen to the marked trailhead for Kleppavarden next to Kongsviktjørna. Cycling trip around Nordåsvatnet that included a revisit of Storrinden and the excellent views from southwest of the summit . When descending from Storrinden I made a quick detour on foot to Dolvikfjellet , easily reached via a marked trail, although the views from the summit were limited. Before starting my return journey, I made a short visit of Skranehovden , ascending from the northwest (again leaving the bike behind), thus avoiding the feeling of going through someone's backyard that the ascent from the south seemed to include. To my surprise the small hill was packed with people enjoying the nice weather, most likely as the forested summit area provided shelter from the cold northerly wind. But all the trees also meant that the views were rather limited, however some very nice views towards Knappen and Lyderhorn could be obtained if heading north of the summit.

Evening cycling trip to Casperkollen , a small hill that had recently been added as its own PB-element (after my earlier visit to the area to ascend Lerkhaugen and Lisahaugen ). I left the bike just north of the summit and completed the last 50 meters on foot. To my surprise there were trails all over the small hill, even to the summit itself. Rather limited views due to all the trees though. Casperkollen is not really worth a trip on its own, but worked fine as a goal for where to go cycling.

Another ambitious cycling trip to Tysnes, this time with the goal of visiting Kongshaug and Hovda . I repeated the success of my previous trip and thus took the express ferry to Malkenes instead of starting by cycling the 40 km to Halhjem. From Malkenes I cycled to Skorpo, once again enjoying the excellent views along Onarheimsfjorden. The trailhead for Kongshaug at Stykkenestet was easily located, and after a visit to Kongshaug (see the separate trip report here: Kongshaug ), I returned to Onarheim for a well-deserved ice cream before starting the climb up Fjellvegen towards Hovda. After the visit to Hovda (see the separate trip report here: Hovda ), I was happy to see that I had plenty of time to get to the planned ferry at Våge, where I arrived with around 15 minutes to spare. On yet another day of excellent warm summer weather, I decided to take the day off and carry out the second of my ambitious cycling/hiking trips to Tysnes. This time avoiding the initial 40 km bike ride to Halhjem by instead taking the express ferry from the Bergen city center to Malkenes, as this would allow me to spend more time hiking. Upon arriving at Malkenes, I followed the now partially familiar roads to Skaret p-plass , where I left the bike behind for an excellent hike to Hovlandsnuten and Etlådnefjellet . When coming back down to Skaret, I did not waste any time and quickly continued south to Onarheim, basically all downhill and flat, and with some spectacular views along the way.
