Nord for Storhovden from Bjørndalsbakken

Short hike after work to visit Nord for Storhovden . After a short walk along the gravel road south of Tennebekktjørna, I turned south on an unmarked trail taking me dangerously close to the three-eyed monster of Kanadaskogen that Helwig discovered late last year. I therefore turned west and instead followed various trails/deer tracks towards the summit of Nord for Storhovden. Better views from the summit than expected, but I would still assume that this location does not see many visitors. From the summit I followed other deer tracks back to the gravel road, where the plan had been to also include a visit of Stemhaugen . But when the size and amount of raindrops started increasing, I instead ended up running back to the bus stop in order to not get too wet. As soon as I got on the bus the rain however stopped, but by then I had already decided to leave Stemhaugen >>>

Cycling trip to Hjellestad and Milde, including visits of Hjellestadvarden and Nepegjerdhaugen . For Hjellestadvarden, it was easy to get less than 50 meters from the summit and it only required a minor off-trail detour on foot to reach the two cairns marking the highest point. Pretty much no views from the summit though and probably does not get many visitors. Getting close to Nepegjerdhaugen was also straightforward, but as it was basically in someone's backyard, I was again satisfied with getting as close as I could without leaving the bike. Before returning home, I also visited both Bergen botanical garden and The Arboretum at Milde. This was clearly one of those trips where the trip itself was much more interesting than the two visited summits.

Stemmevatnet and Spåkevatnet

A hike with the main goal of visiting Ullberget , but also exploring other minor peaks in the area around Stemmevatnet and Spåkevatnet as possible additions to the Alle topper i Bergen list. I started by taking the bus the stop called Bjørkhaug and from there followed a tractor road, that soon turned into a trail, taking me up to Stemmevatnet. Here I made a quick visit of Stemhaugen , which could be reached by a trail and provided a very nice view across Stemmevatnet. Though not indicated on the map, the trail continued south across the summit of Stemhaugen and I soon connected with the main trail to the old discontinued shooting range. I then made a short off-trail detours to the summits of Olderhaugen (32V 304406 6705908) and Litlesåta (32V 304488 6705700), neither of which provided much in terms of views, and while maybe fulfilling >>>

I started by taking the train to Bulken and from there following the paved and later gravel road up to Tverrlii p-plass . Here the road turned into a nice unmarked trail that brought me up to Listred . The map here indicated a trail continuing north, but I did not see any traces of it. In any case, I crossed the river and instead headed off-trail towards Horn . Note that while I crossed south of the bridge, as there was very little water in the river, the bridge had been upgraded since Knut Sverre 's visit more than five years ago when it was more of a "build you own bridge" concept. ;) When getting closer to the summit I came across a weak trail marked with small cairns (maybe coming up from Vestbygdi/Nyestølen?), but it seemed to disappear when approaching the summit. Before heading to the summit, I made a quick visit of the large cairn to the west . Excellent views from both >>>

Cycling: Nordåsvatnet, Flesland and Skjold

Cycling trip with the main objective of visiting more minor peaks on the Alle topper i Bergen list . I started by cycling to Nordåsvatnet and onwards to Ruskeneshaugen . As I did not see any way to access the summit without bordering on trespassing, I skipped the last 50 meters the summit and instead turned south to Kokstadhaugen . I left my bike northwest of the summit and continued the rest of the way on foot, partly along a trail. Better views than expected from the summit. Before heading for Skjold and the final two peaks, I first made a quick visit to Flesland. Getting to Skjoldhøgda was straightforward, except for lots of roadwork resulting in several detours. Also here I skipped the last 20 meters to the summit in order to avoid strange looks from the nearby neighbors. There were some very nice views from just north of the summit though, which could >>>
