Trip Summary
I started day 3 of this multi-day bike trip in Schwanenstadt, heading towards the nice Salzkammergut. My first target on this day was the lake Attersee and I approached it from its northern side, surrounding Seewalchen in the north and getting close to the lake at about Nussdorf am Attersee (on the western side of the lake). After having cycled along the lake until Unterach, I crossed over to Mondsee, another very nice lake in Salzkammergut. Then, and instead of choosing the shortest path towards Salzburg, I decided to also visit Irrsee, i.e., the third lake along this ride through Salzkammergut. From there, I then changed towards a route, which would bring me to Salzburg in a rather straight-forward way, passing by Wallersee, i.e., the fourth lake to see on this day. Eventually, after about 110km of cycling on this third day, I arrived in Salzburg at about 3pm in the afternoon. All in all, from Wien to Salzburg, this were then about 410km of cycling (mostly along major rivers like the Donau and the Traun and then through the beautiful Salzkammergut with all its nice lakes).
