Afternoon cycling trip with the main objective of visiting the trig marker at Hordvikneset . Upon arriving at Balane I left my bike behind and continued on foot. At first I failed to find the trailhead and ended up in a playground where my progress was quickly blocked by a fence. The proper trailhead was however located next and I could then follow a surprisingly nice trail almost all the way to the trig marker. For the final stretch a much weaker trail had to be used but in the end the marker was reached without any issues. No views at all from the trig marker but given the nice trail I assumed there would be better views close by. I therefore returned to the main trail and followed it north to Kråkeberget (now added as its own PB-element) where I was rewarded by great views towards Norhordlandsbroen, Holsenøy, Flatøy and Knarvik. >>>

For the third summer in a row (see the first two trips here and here ) I returned to Bømlo and once more brought the bike with me on the high-speed passenger ferry from Bergen to Rubbestadneset. Here I started the GPS tracking and cycled south towards Børøya. At the top of the last hill before descending to Nautsundet I followed a short dead-end gravel road to an unmarked trailhead referred to as Falkastigen. Here I left the bike behind and continued on foot to Børøysåta and Børøyklampen . See the separate report here . After returning to the bike, I cycled the short distance north and then southwest to the marked trailhead for Lyklingfjellet . I could probably have cycled further on the tractor road, but as it quickly got rather muddy, I again left the bike and continued on foot to the summit. See the separate report here . I still had plenty >>>

After a week of minimal activity due to a cold, I was finally feeling a bit better and decided to test my energy level with a cycling trip to Ytstafjellet . Besides the climb from Myrdalsvatnet to Totland/Riple feeling slightly harder than normal, I made it to the top of the gravel road right next to the highest point of Ytstafjellet without any real issues. Here I left the bike and completed the final less than 60 meters to the summit on foot. No views or any other interesting features to speak of, hence I quickly returned to the bike and proceeded to follow the nice gravel roads southwest, which provided some surprisingly good views towards the south. I then turned north and reconnected with the main road and completed the trip home to Lønborg.

A return to Austevoll to visit Adlesi . Once again I took the high-speed passenger ferry from Strandkaien, but this time bringing my bike and getting off at Hufthammar. From there I cycled south to the western trailhead for Loddo . I stayed on separate cycling/walking paths until leaving road 546 at the roundabout south of Storebø. After that I had to share the road with slightly more traffic than I had hoped for. I left the bike behind at the final fork in the trail up to Loddo and continued on foot to the summit . Back at the bike, I benefitted from having cycled up to around 100 meters above sea level and thus quickly descended to the main road. With the main goal of the day out of the way, I decided to explore more of Austevoll and headed northwest to Storakalsøy and Kalve, enjoying excellent views along the way. No cycling/walking paths after crossing >>>

After getting off the bus at Masfjorden ( after first cycling to Knarvik ), it was time for the second stage of my plan: cycling northeast to Andvika and then north to Lund/Skjeggedalen. I started at 09:25 and arrived at the start of the tractor road up to Skjeggedalen about an hour later after a very enjoyable ride along the fjord. The road was paved until shortly after Ådnekvamme where it turned into a single-lane gravel road that probably does not see too many cars. My initial plan had been to cycle all the way to the final house in Skjeggedalen, but the quality of tractor road up from the fjord made me change my mind and instead leave the bike behind and continued on foot for the ascent to Skjeggedalsfjellet . Back at the bike, I returned to Andvika from where I started the ascent to Litlefjellet . First, along a paved road that later turned into a gravel road. At Storevatnet I forked >>>
