Dagsturhytta på Voss
After yesterday's long hike in Vaksdal I was initially planning on taking it easy today. However, the excellent weather conditions made me reconsider and I decided on a visit of the new dagsturhytte at Voss as a reasonable compromise. The cabin will not officially open until the fall but is already complete and ready for visitors. You can find more information about the cabin and how to get to it here.
I started by taking the train to Voss. From the train station I followed various roads, and two shortcuts, up to the start of Raugstadvegen. Here the road changed from pavement to gravel and I soon had to pass through a gate with the potential of grazing cows and sheep on the other side. I only saw a couple of horses though and they did not pay me much attention.
At the next crossroads I left the gravel road and turned northeast on a rougher tractor road and passed through a second gate. Here I also came across the first signs for "dagsturhytten" and from there on there were such signs all the way to the cabin.
While the road quality had been very good until now, this all changed shortly after the road turned northeast for the last time and started heading towards the cabin. Suddenly there were lots of wet and muddy areas that were increasingly difficult to avoid. Something to keep in mind if thinking, like me, that one is simply going to follow a (dry) tractor road all the way to the cabin.
After a short stop to enjoy the excellent views, I returned along the same route to the train station. Note that the cabin is so far only referred to as “Dagsturhytta på Voss”. Hopefully a more original name will be found before the official opening in the fall. ;)

And if you are wondering: No, I did not cross the railroad tracks. There is an underpass from the station. :)
