Short hike into Kanadaskogen

Quick winter excursion into Kanadaskogen from Fyllingsdalen. Since the weather was beautiful and the snow invited for an excursion (and there was a bit of time), I used the opportunity to do a quick excursion into the vicinity of Nipetjørna. Snow-covered Liatårnet (via an unusual route)

Very nice hike over snow-covered Liatårnet! We started from the west, followed the road (towards the shooting range), before we then entered one of the main hiking paths to Liatårnet (the main route up from the west). But instead of following this path all the way up, we took a turn to the right (southeast) shortly before reaching the main west-face of Liatårnet (at about 200mosl) and connected to another, not so major path, which leads up to Liatårnet from the south. We then connected to Pyttane, walking through a lovely winter landscape, passing by Tårnavatnet. Instead of then following the main road up/down Pyttane, we continued "along the ridge towards the north" (without a path). Eikelifjellet

We started from the parking place at the end of Spelhaugen (near the Kindergarden) and took the clearly less used path into northern direction (a bit to the right from the main track up to Tennebekktjørna, also called Mørkebotn). After a short while, the hiking path then leaves the valley towards the right and (steeply) upwards. Before getting to the wet flat spot there, we first explored a little top south of it (mostly to check out the view over Spelhaugen). We then turned around, again into northern direction, got down to the wet flat, crossed it, and started our ascent to Eikelifjellet (this all isn't much of a hike, but it's very nice to go there, not at the least because Eikelifellet really is very steep at this side and one follows a little path up right next to impressive cliff >>>

Løvstakken from Fjøsanger

We parked near the supermarket at Fjøsanger and walked first a bit up towards the farm Fjøsanger. Before getting there, we connected to a gravel path that runs mostly parallel to the mountain and walked along this one until the forest starts to open up on the left side. At the very edge of the forest, another path then continues steeply upwards and we used this to get "to the next level" (the still relatively new path which maybe later will be connected with the new Løvstien all around Løvstakken's eastern side). We then walked this path to its current end (there is a little hut for having a break). Sauafjellet

We took the car to Sotra and there to Fjæreide (near Knappskog). We parked near the place where seemingly also the bus turns around (more or less in the middle between Fjæreidpollen in the NE and Fjæreidvatnet in the SW). We then walked first for a few meters down the road which leads down to the water (Fjæreidpollen/Smalneset), before then turning left (following a sign from Kyststien). Within short we were in the snow and soon after we departed from the path towards Spjeldsfjellet (our plan was to get up Sauafjellet first). After quickly ascending to Fagrevollen, we connected to a ridge, which leads up to Sauafjellet in western direction. At Sauafjellet, we enjoyed some great views towards the Atlantic! Katlaberget

We started this little hike on Ferstadvegen in Os, south of Bergen. First we followed the road, which winds left and right into an overall southeastern direction. After a few turns of the road, one can find the first sign, which invites to leave the road and ascend to Katlaberget on a proper path. After all, this would be the spot, where we later come back to the road after our little round over Katlaberget. To actually make this a round, we first continued on the road even further, now going a bit down towards the sea. About two major turns later, we eventually left the road and followed another path, which also leads to the top of Katlaberget. Ørnafjellet and Lyderhorn on a lovely autumn day!

We started at the parking area right next to Gravdalsvatnet and followed first Gravdalsveien upwards in order to find the path that would bring us to Ørnafjellet. After having passed a few new buildings (with an amazing view!), we crossed over some intermediate height to connect to a small place, where a little football field is established. From there, the path upwards to Ørnafjellet starts (in its middle then called "Mørdarbakke"). This path is not used a lot and it is generally wet (and also a bit steep). Geitanipa

We started from Langhelle, between Trengereid and Vaksdal, at the end of the paved (small and narrow) road, which winds up there from E16 near the fjord. We first walked up a little longer along the gravel road until the point, where it makes a sharp turn right, leading further up to Seterkokane. We then followed a forest trail that brought us further up (in southeastern direction) to the saddle between Trollaberget and Geitanipa. At about this saddle, we decided to not descend to the southern side, but instead to connect to Geitanipa, instead. While there was not really any path or trail to Geitanipa, we still managed to get there without major difficulties (Geitanipa is, in fact, a bit steep on its eastern side, so it is necessary to carefully choose a good spot for ascending to it). >>>

Summer evening on Lyderhorn

We took the car along road 557 towards Bjørndalen, where we parked right next to Bjørndalstjørna. We crossed the double-lane street (Lyderhornsveien) and found a narrow passage that led us up to Bjørndalsbakken. From there, we connected to Sildaberget and between houses 31 and 35 we found the narrow opening, which leads the path that brings one up the steep mountain-side there. Before actually ascending to Lyderhorn, we first crossed Skarpafjellet in the south of Lyderhorn. Once up the little top, there, one can enjoy some very nice views in all directions. In order to get further to Lyderhorn, we descended from Skarpafjellet on its northeastern side, avoiding the very steep side towards Grøvledalen.
