Biking around Hordnesskogen

With also the other bike repaired, we headed for a new biking-round around Nordåsvatnet. Again, we started our joint ride near the light rail station at Kristianborg, heading south (into the direction of Nesttun). This time, we surrounded Kristianborgvannet on the other, eastern side, though. Following the main bike route southwards, we eventually ended up in Rådalen. There, we decided that we would bike around Hordnesskogen in its south. Afte first following Rådalen further south (to the north of the school at Stend), we then turned right and onto Hordesvegen. Biking around Nordåsvatnet

We had a bike to pick up and wished to ride a little round -- not at the least to also see that it was functioning as well as expected. We started the joint ride at the bike shop near the light rail station at Kristianborg, heading first southwards along Kanalveien and then following the track of the no longer existing railway into the direction of Nesttun. At the church of Skjold, we then turned right and cycled down to Skjoldbukta along Harald Skjolds veg. From there, we then cycled up to Nordåsvegen, which we then followed "all around" Nordåsen. On the south, we then descended to Steinsvikvegen. Following Steinsvikvegen around Steinsviken and Søviken, we connected to Søreide and from there further northwards to Sandeidet. Double-round to Alvøen

Even though I had a lot of work to do, still, I could not resist the nice weather and needed to get out, at least a little! Getting onto my eBike, I decided to visit Alvøen (once again) and check out a few of the smaller hills there. To get there, I decided to pass by Tennebekk, first. I thus biked first north in Fyllingsdalen and at Spelhaugen I got onto the gravel road that leads up to Tennebekk. On the other side, I turned south (southwest), again. Passing by Loddefjord, I aimed at Hilleren in the southwest of Haakonsvern. Once past Mathopen, I connected to Skarelien, which brought me up to Hilrafjellet by basically cycling a "full round" around it, first. Ørnafjellet (and Lyderhorn) the "wild" way

After a very nice "standard" hike to Møsnuken the day before, we wished to use the second nice weekend day for another, maybe a bit more "experimental" hike. For some time already, we had asked ourselves, whether it is possible to ascend Ørnafjellet near Lyderhorn "direttissima" from Banuren. This Sunday, we thought to try this idea. We took our eBikes and biked along Bjørgeveien into the direction of Loddefjord. After rounding Svartaberget and Bjørndalstjørna, we cycled northwards on the eastside of Lyderhorn, passing by Liavatnet. On the northeastern side of Lianakken, we turned left and onto Banuren, leading us up to the houses of Banuren. Short trip to Lyshovden via Bønes

To get a bit of fresh air, I decided to pay Lyshovden a short visit. To do so, I took my eBike and first headed towards the south of Bønes (from Varden via Straume). Near Bønes kirke I took the chance to step up to Storahugen, also. From there, I passed over Bønes via Bønesskogen, connecting to C. J. Hambros vei on the other side. Once at Lyshovden, I first visited the southern hill. After completing a short round, I cycled down to the northern part of Lyshovden. Together with a friend, I then payed Nordre Lyshovden a short visit, before walking around it and getting back up to Lyshovden (then from the north). Micro-tops south of Fyllingsdalen

I took the chance to "round up" a few micro-"tops" in the vicinity. This combined eBiking-hiking trip brought me first to Ruskeneshaugen (I do not recommend to follow my track there; all in all, I'm unsure whether there's any good way to get there; and further, it's unclear, why one would get there in the first place), before I continued into the direction of Grimstad (my next goal was to cross over Dolvikfjellet). At Hammarsland, I followed Hammarslandbakken up (basically to where it then also ends) and ascended from there (first into the direction of Dansehaugen in southwestern direction). Lyderhorn biked&hiked

This time, we decided to combine a little bike trip with a short hike up and down Lyderhorn. We started from Varden in the south of Fyllingsdalen and biked along Bjørgeveien into the direction of Loddefjord. After passing by Vestkanten at Loddefjord, we continued further northwards along Lyderhornveien in the west of Skarpafjellet. After crossing over the highway, we biked further upwards along Kjøkkelvikveien, passing by Kjøkkelvik school. We left our bikes at the place, where we met Lyderhornslien. From there, we hiked the main trail up in southeastern direction, heading towards Små-Lyderhorn, first. This time, we also took a few extra minutes to actually step up to the "top" of Små-Lyderhorn. Fana-cycling with Fanasåta

I took my bike southwards from Varden, Fyllingsdalen, first passing by Søreide into the direction of Hjellestad. After having crossed the street to the airport, I turned sharply left at Blomsterdalen, continuing on the small road #172 towards Fana. At Skeie, I made sure to connect to the even smaller road, which passes by Hordnesskogen. At Stend, I connected with the main road to Fana, #546, coming there from Rådalen. I then cycled by Fana and continued on road #163 up to Fanafjellet. Even though the height difference is not much, this ascent clearly is tougher than cycling on level ground. :-) At Fanafjellet, I parked my bike in order to make a short detour to Fanasåta. Cycling to Askøy with Folleseåsen

We started our little cycling trip in the south of Fyllingsdalen and took Bjørgeveien towards Loddefjord. From there, we connected to Kjøkkelvikveien and at Nybø, we connected to Sundby Hvorups vei, which brings cyclists (and pedestrians) to the southern end of the large bridge to Askøy (drivers take a tunnel). We crossed over the Askøy-bridge and followed the sidewalk to the place, where a bigger bus-stop is. There, right behind the bus-stop, a steep path is leading downwards to Skarholmvegen. Turning sharply right, once down there, we took Skarholmvegen towards the west on the southern edge of Askøy. Askøy-cycling with Åsebøåsen

I took my bicycle from Varden in the southwest of Fyllingsdalen and followed first Bjørgeveien towards Loddefjord. Shortly before getting there, I first thought to take the pedestrians' bridge over Lyderhornveien in order to get to Bjørndalsbakken. I was mislead, there, however, since the according signs were crossed out. Thus, I thought that I had no other choice than to use Lyderhornveien in order to get to Loddefjord (not the nicest street to cycle). From Loddefjord, I continued along Lyderhornveien in northern direction (here it's fully OK to cycle), until I got to Kjøkkelvikveien, which I followed further northwards. Via Krabbedalsflaten, I got further to Sundby Hvorups vei, which I cycled upwards and over a minor top in order to connect to the big Askøy-bridge (only possible >>>
