Fantastic views from up here on the Twin Peaks (2706 m / 8878 ft), overlooking Lake Tahoe, Desolation Wilderness, Granite Chief Wilderness (where we camped for two nights), and the Pacific Crest Trail (which we'll take out to Five Lakes). Last night's camp, in the upper part of Bear Pen Creek, was particularly nice, and it felt almost unreal that no one seems to have camped there before us (no trace of humans there). But also the previous site, at historic Whisky Creek Camp (an abandoned settler's site) was special. So happy to be able to experience all this! Lets us forget all the pain of the steep off-trail ascent. And then, there's a geocache up here! Last visitor was yesterday; before that, someone in May, before that, in November 2016. Not the most frequented place…
