For more than a year, Småbrekkebukken had been my last remaining summit on the Samnanger ≥ 100m pf. list. So when The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT), or more specifically Voss Utferdslag, organized a guided skiing trip, I was of course among the first to sign up.

After taking the train to Voss, I joined the others at Holbergsplass, from where we carpooled to Småbrekkene to start the real trip. We initially followed the marked trail/road towards Gullhorgabu, but after a short break northeast of Småbrekkebukken, we had left the marked trail and instead continued up the valley northwest of the summit.

Here we came across an area where most of the snow had been removed by strong winds, and we therefore had to backtrack a bit to find a slightly different route than planned. This however did not present any real issues and after a large U-turn to avoid the steepest areas we soon arrived at the summit, which provided excellent views, although somewhat reduced by the sun refusing to show itself.

As we were getting ready for our descent, the light fog that we had partially experienced on the ascent more or less cleared and we could thankfully begin our descent in the direction of Gullhorgabu without having to worry about poor visibility. After another break, we made a short detour to look down at Gullhorgabu before continuing our descent to Småbrekke in near perfect conditions for skiing. Soon the sun even started to shine and resulted in a perfect ending to a very nice trip!

There was still the remaining matter of getting back home to Bergen though. I was lucky to catch a ride with three other participants heading to Arna, thus avoiding the detour back to Voss. I had however completely forgotten that this Sunday was the end of the "vinterferie", resulting in the traffic grinding to almost a full stop as we approached Vaksdal. I therefore switched travelling plans once again, got out of the car at the bus stop at Vaksdal and instead made it for the train station (as I would have to take the train from Arna anyway), and with the train arriving in Vaksdal just as I arrived at the station, I'm pretty sure this was overall the optimal choice.

With this trip I finally complete the Samnanger ≥ 100m pf. list!
