Started by taking the bus to Øvre Totland. Or so I thought. Turned out I had left the bus one stop too early. But after only a couple of hundred meters walking up along Totlandsvegen I reached my planned starting point for the hike.

I continued to the parking lot at Øvre Totland and from there followed an unmarked, but easy to follow trail, along the ridge of Totlandsfjellet, that took me all the way to the summit. Nice views from the summit, but the light rain and the low-hanging clouds did not help of course.

From the summit of Totlandsfjellet I continued towards Livarden, but while the trail was still easy to follow it got significantly wetter and a lot muddier. However, I quickly reached the summit of Livarden and after a short break for some pictures (the rain had started to increase in intensity), I followed a trail north, assuming that it would later turn east towards Slettegga, my next goal.

However, this trail ended up disappearing (I guess it's only a trail used to get to the northern viewpoint at Livarden). After a quick check of the map, I therefore decided to locate the proper trail via an off-trail shortcut through the terrain (instead of going back to the summit).

After reconnecting with the trail, which at this point had turned even wetter and muddier, I found my way to the summit of Slettegga, coinciding with the rain finally stopping. Here there was still a bit of snow left, but nothing that could not be easily traversed.

From the top of Slettegga I made a short detour across Nobbane for some nice views towards Hausdalshorga and Dyrdalsvatnet, before turning north towards Osavatnet. The plan was to follow the trail down Katladalen to the southwestern endpoint of Osavatnet, but I missed the exit and thus had to make my own shortcut to locate the rather weak trail (which is probably why I missed it in the first place).

After reaching Osavatnet, I followed the paved road towards Espeland until crossing Skåldalselva, and from there followed a nice gravel road, which at the end turned into a paved road again, all the way down to Espeland for the bus back to the city center.

Overall, a nice hike, especially the first section up to Totlandsfjellet, and a good way of covering the three visited summits in one trip without having to rely on a car and/or having to use the same route in both directions. The poor weather and the muddy trails left a bit to be desired though.

Yes, definitely recommended! And should be even nicer in better weather. :)
