Afternoon skiing at Fløyen with some of my colleagues, including one from Costa Rica and his visiting friend from Columbia, neither of which had ever skied before. Both did remarkably well though and made it through a round in the lower half "lysløypen" without any injuries. When the rest of the party then headed back to Fløibanen, I ascended to Brushytten on my own and from there followed the roads to the top of Øyjorden. The skis stayed on until the top of Olinestien, even though the snow conditions for the descent to Munkebotsvatnet were significantly worse than a week earlier.

The plan was to take Fløibanen and start skiing from the upper station, I had even bought the ticket, but when seeing the long queue I changed my mind and instead carried the skis up to just below Skomakerdiket instead. Here the skis came on and stayed on until the top of Olinestien. The snow conditions were good but a minor snowstorm at Rundemanen made me glad that I was in familiar terrain.

It was finally time for the first skiing trip of the season! The skis came on at the top of Fløibanen and stayed on until the top of Øyjorden.

My initial plan to visit the highest point of Myrdalsbreen was abandoned at the small hill called Britastein just west of Britabu due to the snow conditions being tougher than expected and the snow starting to build up underneath my climbing skins.

Given the excellent weather I managed to convince three of my colleagues to take the Friday off to go skiing at Totræna Vinterpark . Two of them did not have much experience with cross-country skiing though, hence we initially took it quite slow. After a long lunch break at the skiing jumping hill close to the start of the trails, two of us completed the rest of the groomed ski trails at a slightly higher speed, before we all returned to Bergen.

Left work a couple of hours early to enjoy the last part of a day of excellent winter weather. After the massive snowfall from the day before there was plenty of fresh snow. The skis came on just after exiting Fløibanen and stayed on until the top of Øyjorden (except for most of Hellemyrstien where I concluded that it was just as fast to walk).
