Tverrfjellet from Nordvik

I left work early and took the bus to Nordvik where I got off at the stop called "Nordvik nord, Bergen". After a short walk along the road I started looking for the trail up the valley in between Tverrfjellet and Høgeåsen . Thankfully I came across one of the locals and could ask for directions before it started feeling too much like trespassing, especially as I had to walk along the outskirts of his lawn to get to the trailhead. At first the trail was easy to follow, but soon it would either be hidden by ferns or look and feel more like a small stream. I therefore left the trail behind and headed off-trail in the direction of the summit of Tverrfjellet, following various deer tracks when these seemed to head in the right direction. Afternoon trip to Korsneset to visit three minor summits on the Alle topper i Bergen list. I started by taking the bus to Krokeide and getting off at the final bus stop called "Krokeide videregående skole". From there I walked along the roads until being just east of Ramnaberget and managed to find a relatively easy off-trail ascent, partly following deer tracks. Limited views from the summit, but great views could be obtained a short distance to the southwest. I returned along more or less the same route before following the steep trail to Veten where the usually excellent views were reduced due to a passing light rain shower. On what looked like it would be the last sunny and warm day for a while, I took the advice of the weather man on the morning radio and took the Friday off to go hiking. Started by taking the train to Dale and the bus to Bergsdalen where I got off at the bus stop called "Lid aust". This put me directly at the start of the marked trail to Høgabu which I then proceeded to follow. For the first part of the ascent I was escorted by a squadron of buzzing flies, but thankfully they gave up their pursuit as I climbed above the tree line, partly due to a cool breeze from the southwest. On my way to Høgabu I had initially planned to ascend Gråfjellet from the northeast via Storaskaret as there is supposed to be a weak trail crossing the ridge of Gråfjellet. Left work early to take advantage of the last part of a warm summer day for a cycling trip to Osavatnet with the goal of visiting Nordnuken , yet another minor summit on the Alle topper i Bergen list. Shortly after leaving my bike behind where the gravel-covered path ended south of the summit it however became clear that the ascent to Nordnuken did not look very inviting and was not the most compatible with shorts and t-shirt. I therefore changed my plans and instead went for a trip around Svartavatnet with short detours to the minor summits of Smetthaugane , Småhaugane and, with an additional detour via Redningshytten , Store Stuthaugen . Each of the minor summits could easily be reached and only required short detours from the trail. The trail between Smetthaugane and Småhaugane was however quite weak and I ended up losing it when crossing the stream coming down from Glamregjelet >>>

After spending all of the previous Saturday at work, it was in easy choice to take the following Friday off when the weather forecast for Bergen predicted blue skies and close to 30 degrees. Three other colleagues were quickly convinced to join and we settled on ascending to Kiellandbu from Hodnaberg, with my own goal of also visiting at least a couple of new summits in the area. We parked next to the power station at Hodnaberg and started by following the gravel road south. After a short steep incline, we left the gravel road and continued on the marked trail to Kiellandbu, enjoying the excellent views along the river.
