A return to Fitjar to recomplete the Fitjar ≥ 100m pf. list after Kinno and Beintjørnvarden recently had lost their spots on the list. I took the bus and ferry to Stord and got off at the stop "Vistvik vest". After a short walk along the road, I continued on the snow-covered gravel road towards Kvernavatnet, which turned into a trail about halfway to the lake.

Until Kvernavatnet I had been following the footprints of two other hikers, but at the shelter next to the lake our ways parted and from there on I would not see any footprints but my own until returning to Kvernavatnet towards the end of the hike. When arriving at Svartavatnet I made a quick visit of Kjeringjo before following the marked trail towards Kinno, although with the occasional off-trail shortcut.

The new highest point at Kinno, referred to as Kinno Nordøst was easily located and only required a short detour from the marked trail. I briefly considered continuing south to the larger cairn but ended up following my own footprints back to Svartavatnet. From Svartavatnet I ascended northwest along the marked trail in the direction of Midtfjellsåta, the replacement for Beinatjørnvarden, only needing a minor off-trail detour to reach the summit. Having recompleted the Fitjar ≥ 100m pf. list, I then retraced my steps to Svartavatnet and back down to Vistvik for the express bus back to Bergen.

At the bus stop I however learned that the bus was at least one hour delayed. Waiting that long in the cold and dark was not an option. I therefore instead put on my high visibility vest and began the 5.5 km walk to Sandvikvåg, mainly via the separate cycling and walking path. After less than an hour I arrived and only had to wait around ten minutes for the ferry. At Halhjem I had to wait another 15 minutes for the local bus and finally arrived home 1.5 hours later than originally planned.

To conclude, both Kinno Nordøst and Midtfjellsåta can be easily reached via short detours from the marked trails. In fact, I had been less than 100 meters from both summits during earlier hikes in the area, but at that time had seen no point in ascending to the summits.
