Cycling: Fedjebjørnen from Bergen
For some time I had been considering an extended cycling trip with the goal of visiting Fedjebjørnen, and with a weekend of excellent weather forecasts I decided to finally give it a go. I started cycling from Lønborg just after nine in the morning and more or less followed the cycling route towards Mongstad. This meant that for most of the trip I was either on separate cycling/walking paths or on roads with limited traffic. The exception perhaps being the stretch from Alversundsbrua until turning left for Sæbø. Here it is probably best to avoid the rush hour traffic.
Almost 4.5 hours later, and a total of 70 km, I finally arrived at Sævrøy. Here I had a 20-minute break waiting for the ferry to Fedje. Except for some light haze, the conditions were very good, and I could enjoy the excellent views from the ferry. Upon arriving at Fedje (took about 30 minutes), I cycled south to the new marked trailhead for Fedjebjørnen. Here I left the bike behind and continued the short distance to the summit on foot. The trail was easy to follow and I quickly arrived at the summit for some excellent panoramic views, although again a bit limited by the light haze.
When getting back to the bike, I still had plenty of time for the ferry back to Sævrøy. I therefore made a short detour for a closer look at the lighthouse at Hellisøy before returning to the ferry, and thus only had to wait around ten minutes. Now all that remained was the minor detail of the 70 km cycling to get back home… Naturally, the return took slightly longer, but I still made it home in around five hours. In summary, an excellent but long cycling trip that can be very highly recommended!

Note that the GPS track also includes the ferry to/from Fedje. Subtract 12.8 km to get the actual cycling distance. The vertical meters is also a bit too high due to bridges not being detected when correcting the altitude.

Er vel kanskje ikke så mange turer til en kommunetopp hvor man er via tre andre kommuner på veien først heller? ;)

Har nok ikke begynt med kommunetoppsamling nei. Fedjebjørnen er med på Opptur Hordaland listen og jeg trengte en ny topp jeg kunne komme til uten offentlig transport i disse koronatider. Selv om jeg må innrømme at det fristet litt å hoppe på bussen når den kjørte forbi meg like etter at jeg startet på den syv mil lange sykkelturen hjem igjen fra fergekaien på Sævrøy... :)
