I have always enjoyed being outdoors, but it is only for the last couple of years that I really started consciously exploring new locations for yet unvisited peaks. The main objectives being to get additional motivation to head outside even if the weather may not always be perfect, and to become more familiar with the local geography and the many great hiking opportunities that I would otherwise most likely have left unexplored.

The majority of my hikes are accessible by public transportation from the Bergen city center. Relying on buses (and trains) has the advantage that one does not have to return to the starting location, which can often make for more interesting and unusual hikes. But also has its challenges, mainly regarding how to get (close to) the trailhead in the first place, and equally important, how to get back home at the end of the hike…

For me, the trip itself is (usually) as important as getting to the summit. Although I have also had my share of peaks in the “once, but never again” category, which I guess is unavoidable when starting to collect some of the local lists of smaller peaks. If possible, I try to include multiple peaks in the same hike (especially if getting to the start of the hike involves a long bus ride), often resulting in longer hikes along less frequently used trails.

When writing my trip reports, I try to include the information that I myself find useful when researching how to ascend to a particular peak, for example, how to find the trailhead, details on trail quality and if there are any views from the summit. The hope is that my reports can inspire others to try out some of the same hikes (and potentially know which ones to avoid), and thus hopefully have similar great experiences that I have had along the way!
