I have always enjoyed being outdoors, but it is only from around 2016 that I consciously started exploring new locations for yet unvisited peaks. The main objectives being to get additional motivation to head outside even if the weather may not always be perfect and to become more familiar with the local geography and the many great hiking opportunities that I would otherwise most likely not have known about.

The majority of my hikes make use of public transportation from Bergen. Relying on buses, trains and express boats has the advantage that one does not have to return to the starting location, which can often make for more interesting and unusual hikes. But it also has its challenges, mainly regarding how to get (close to) the trailhead in the first place, and equally important, how to get back home at the end of the hike.

The trip itself is (usually) as important as getting to the summit. Although I have also had my fair share of peaks in the “once, but never again” category, which I guess is unavoidable when starting to collect some of the local lists of smaller peaks. Whenever possible, I try to include multiple peaks in the same hike, especially if getting to the start of the hike takes a lot of time, which often results in longer hikes along less frequently used routes.

When writing my reports, I include the information that I myself find useful when researching how to ascend to a particular peak, e.g., how to get to the trailhead, details on the trail quality and if there are any views to be obtained. The hope is that my reports can inspire others to try out some of the same hikes (and potentially know which ones to avoid), and thus hopefully have similar great experiences that I have had along the way!
