Grøtdalstinden

Track from Urke to Haukkåssætra. Signposted Råna onto grass track through blauberry bushes. On reaching river cross to left hand side (North). Route on other side leads to steep, dangerous slope. Follow river to below waterfall, then NW stream bed to avoid birch forest, which is steep and slippery. After leaving the birch trees behind you will head across boulders and scrub to the shallower slopes leading into the valley between Urkedalstinden and Grøtdalstinden. There is an extensive snowfield until late July which covers much of the high boulderfield. At the col you have a choice..Urkedals or Grøtdals or both. Each slope is fairly easy to negotiate with Grøtdalstinden slightly lower. Great views from both summits. Very rewarding. Enjoy.
