Visiting Dejima, the former Dutch Trading Post

After a long Shinkansen transfer from Kyoto, we still wished to stretch our legs a little and thus decided to visit the former island of Dejima before going to bed. Waling south from the main railway station in Nagasaki, we quickly approached Dejima from the northwest. Even though we had read about it up front, we still were surprised to experience, how small this exclusive trading post in fact was. Going there in the evening had the advantage that we basically had the site for us and we therefore could take a good chunk of time to walk all around it and experience it closely. Visiting Nishiki Market in Kyoto

Quite a bit jet-lagged, we still wished to make a nice walk through the narrow streets of Kyoto, picking Nishiki Market, north of the main train station of Kyoto, as our goal. On our way north, we also passed by the Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, but they were already closing their gates for the day. Walking along off-beat, narrow streets gave us some good and apparently authentic impression of Kyoto. Nishiki Market is then really impressive. Buzzling with people, numerous small shops offering food and other goods, even in the evening. Back, we then took a slighly more easterly route, adding to our Kyoto impression. Dommeldange (and back via Kuebebierg)

Lund city walk

I had to visit Lund and decided to use some evening time for a short city walk. Starting from the main train station in Lund, I first headed into Lilla Fiskaregatan. After crossing Stortorget into Skomakaregatan, I "circled back" to Lunds domkyrka. I then headed north along Kyrkogatan and Bredgatan, before following Getingevägen to IDEON Science Park. From there, I eventually walked back to the main train station, heading towards the Botanical garden, first, before then turning west and towards the train station. Given that all this was done in the dark, I only got an approximate impression of Lund, this time. See also the related FB-page Hiking around Bergen, Norway .

Nancy, Zinnerbach

I wished to explore the area of Nancy, not far from Kraslice/Graslitz. I parked at the moderately large parking lot in Nancy and then walked -- first along the road, then up the forest road that extends in parallel to Zinnerbach. Once "up on the heights", or so, I turned around, also since I did not have more time, and walked back the same route. Selected photos are available as Google photo album . Evening Ormhelleren

Given a likely rain-free evening, we headed out to Ormhelleren in the south of Rongøyna in Øygarden. We first explored the area around Hesthaugen before then testing the waters in the bay southeast of Hesthaugen. On the way back, an attempt to cross over Rongaloftet failed due to a lack of time, the trail leading towards the east (instead of the north), and the absence of a willingness for some evening bush war...
