We were up for a visit of Bad Ischl and parked south of the Traun near Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Brücke. After then walking up Esplanade alongside of the Traun, first, we then walked over to the Kurpark in the center of Bad Ischl. Via Kreuzplatz and Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Straße we then returned to Esplanade for a second time. Eventuallz, we crossed the Traun (via Richard Tauber Steg) again to return to the car.

In the evening, we drove to Salzburg and parked in the parking space underneath Mönchsberg. We then walked via Universitätsplatz to Alter Markt, where we enjoyed a nice break. Thereafter, we crossed over the Salzach to have some nice icecream at Platzl, before continuing towards Schloss Mirabell. Through the nice park right next to it, we then returned. While crossing over the Salzach again, we enjoyed some nice late-evening light on Salzburg! :-)

Once around Eibenberg, Nixenfall

We headed for the Weissenbachtal in the south of the Höllengebirge for a hike around Eibenberg. After parking a short stretch southeast of Weissenbach along the Weissenbacher Straße, we first needed to get across the Weissenbach in order to connect with the trail, which we had in mind. Given the extremely dry conditions, which had prevailed for a longer time already, we could simply walked across the bed of Weissenbach, not even seeing any water! We then followed a marked trail in eastern direction that extends there between Weissenbach in the north and Eibenberg in the south. At the location, where the Klausenbach joins Weissenbach from the south, we then made our turn to start the hike back (this time south of Eibenberg, crossing over the Eibenbergsattel just a bit to the southwest >>>

We simply wished to walk a little and chose the Taferlklause close to Steinbach/Attersee as our goal. There we then walked around Taferlklaussee. Even though this indeed was a very short round, we still enjoyed it! :-)

Höllengebirge from Attersee

The idea was to use a good weather forecast for a nice hike up and down Höllengebirge. We started from Dorf (part of Steinbach/Attersee) and first walked to Forstamt, where we started the ascent "for real". While this meant to first walk up a forest road, east of Forstamt, we soon changed over to the trail, which later becomes the Brennerriesensteig (after forking off from Valerieweg at about 720masl). The next 2km (up the Brennerriesensteig) then were steep up some 800 height meters (climbing is not really needed, but there's a ladder and some steps which are secured by ropes along the trail). Since this trail leads up the westward facing "wall" of Höllengebirge, one gets to enjoy numerous amazing views across Attersee (also over to Schafberg). Once on the heights >>>
