Trip Summary
To round off our visit to Solund, we wished to explore this wonder world of islands also from the water. Thus, we had booked a double kayak from a place in Hardbakke that we took out to get around Liasundet for half a day. Leaving Hardbakke, we first paddled northwards on the eastern side of Liasundet, heading towards Råke and Råkeneset in particular, where we had stayed the past few nights. From Råkeneset, we then headed westwards and paddled between Hogneskjela and Hågøyna towards Færøyna, which we then surrounded in its north (in counterclockwise direction). On Litle Færøyna (in the south of Færøyna) we expected to find a place, where we could have a nice little break and indeed, after first also paddling almost all around this island (in its west), we found the indeed nice place in the southeast of the island. After a nice break there, we continued our paddling trip, now mostly in southwards direction (and back to Hardbakke). After first exploring the islands in the south of Færøyna a little bit, we eventually surrounded Hogneneset (in its north) to make it back into Liasundet, which we then paddled southwards (now on its western side), before then returning the kayak in Hardbakke. Complementing our hikes in Solund with this kayak trip was definitely a nice idea and provided us with a yet different impression of this impressive part of western Norway.
