Trip Summary

Even though the day was overcast, we still wished to refresh ourselves and thus decided to make a short round through Kanadaskogen. We first walked from Varden to Hesjaholten, following the dead-end road that extends furthest northwards. Almost at the very last house, there's a trail head leading upwards into a small valley in the southeast of Litla Krokatjørna. About half way up into this valley, we turned left and ascended the small hill in the southeast of Litla Krokatjørna. After crossing over it, we descended back into "the small valley", but just to cross it in order to also ascend to the hill on the other (eastern) side. Once over this one, we then continued along its northern ridge, running somewhat between Litla Krokatjørna (in the west) and (Stora) Krokatjørna (in the northeast). More or less exactly in the middle between these two lakes, we came by one of the rather rare places in Kanadaskogen where there are no trees! :-) After "crossing over" to another hill, a little further north, we again proceeded along its northern ridge. A bit later, we then crossed the little stream that leaves Krokatjørna on its western end (en route to Bjørndalsvatnet). Rounding then Krokatjørna in its north, we connected to Langaheia on the eastern side of Krokatjørna. After enjoying the view down to Krokatjørna from Langaheia, we then continued in southern direction. This time, however, we did not follow our usual trail that rounds Krokatjørna in its south before connecting through another small valley to Allestadsveien further in the south, but walked out another nice trail from Langaheia southwards (one ridge further to the east). This brought us almost all the way down to Per Gynts vei. Instead of walking out and onto the road, however, we instead crossed the ridge in the northwest of Per Gynts vei (in southwestern direction). Before eventually walking back to Varden, we also included a short visit to the shop for some groceries. All in all, this really was a nice round through Kanadaskogen! :-)
